. . . Charlotte’s blog continues.
I have spent many of my lunchtimes whilst I have been volunteering at Orb Arts down in the garden. This is a communal and beautiful space where it is very peaceful to sit. The garden here is a host of natural beauty, with flowers blooming, apple trees growing, butterflies dancing and fish darting.
The pond at the bottom of the garden is interesting to go and stand near, where the two original fish now have offspring which fill the water.
I met George who was interested in the Creative Writing Workshops which I am running over summer. As he also helps in the garden he gave me the grand tour, showing me parts of the garden I had never seen before. In the garden produce is being grown such as potatoes, plums, poppy seeds and apples, which were used in the food that was prepared for the FEVA festival show at Orb. I think that it is wonderful that produce is grown in the Orb Arts Garden for events such as this one.
The outdoor space has been created carefully to bring the best out of it. There is a water feature at the bottom of the garden where a stream of water descends from slabs of rock and into the pond.
As well as this there is a wooden hut known as the ‘hobbit hut’ which was specially built for the garden. This is also a lovely place to sit and admire everything around you.
If you are interested in gardening, natural beauty or even if you just fancy feeding the fish then Orb Arts could be somewhere for you to come and spend your time. With such an amazing enclosed space on offer to all Orb users, nature could be calling you. Just get in touch- tomorrow you could be planting your own vegetables!
