Summer is finally kicking in, and where better to spend a summer afternoon than at orblive@feva2012 on Wednesday 15th August (1.00pm – 7.30pm).
As part of Knaresborough’s feva celebrations, Orb members and other local musicians will be entertaining old friends and new visitors with live bands, DJs, artwork, fairground games and food in what has become an annual showcase event.
And this year it’s on our home turf – the Orb Garage itself!.
Who’s going to be there?
Kicking off the afternoon will be Orb’s good friends THE ACORN CENTRE BAND. Local act WYNTERWOOD will also be guesting.
Throughout the afternoon you can hear plenty of Orb talent: STICKS AND STONES, FLAT 69, DOWNRIGHT4MIDABLE and LITTLE MISS K.
As we move into the early evening popular local DJ, RORY HOY will be taking the lead.
Also dropping in to the event will be TWEAK, the local band who made such a hit last year, THE RETROS and DJs JAMES LEE and STEVE.
Don’t tell me there’s more!?
There certainly is!
There’s an opportunity for visitors to look round Orb (specially tidied for the day) and talk to Mark and Leon about the work they do.
There’s an exhibition of art by Orb members.
There are some guaranteed-to-be silly fairground attractions.
There’s an opportunity to be inspired by our garden, transformed from a patch of waste ground by Orb users, volunteers and staff.
And – for a small charge – refreshments, including plenty of cake and chilled beer.
A special thank you to UNISON
This year Orb has been successful in gaining a £400 grant from the public workers’ union, UNISON, to help stage this event.
Leon has been expressing his appreciation:
‘We’re really grateful to UNISON for helping to make this afternoon possible. This will be a great opportunity for people to explore and appreciate one of Knaresborough’s hidden gems, meet one another and maybe even discover new volunteering opportunities? There are all sorts of opportunities at the moment from working in the music studio right up to Treasurer.”
